i always get a big laugh when i hear this version. early on we tried using a full drum kit to see what it sounded like but decided to stick with the percussive sound of robi hamilton's cajon despite his great full kit take. late one night i pulled out an old electric guitar and played along. the old thing with rusted strings was so out of tune and couldn't hold a tune for more than a minute... we added lots of reverb and tried to mask the waving notes as the string vibrated in and out of tune... flattening and sharpening... as we listened back we imagined a very drunk but confident man playing this guitar in a bar. five sheets to the wind... could barely stand or open his eyes... cigarette hanging from his mouth. deemed the laziest guitarist ever seen live. it has its charm in some experimental way.
